My Favorite Place to Buy Jrock CDs Online
I remember back in old days how hard it was to buy Jrock CDs. It was obvious that I couldn't get the CDs in my local music shop since they didn't have them.
And why in the world they would want to sell something that majority of the population wouldn't even realize their existence?
Even if they did sell them, it was only the typical bands like Glay and Laruku.
Visual-kei band CDs?
Not a chance.
Since I couldn't get these CDs in my local music shop, I was left with three options.
Option 1: Just forget about them
Option 2: Download these songs illegally
Option 3: Buy the Jrock CDs online
Option 1 is totally out of the question since there was no way I could forget about them.
As for the Option 2, finding a website where I could download to my heart content was non-existent back then.
In fact, it took me 9 pages of Google search to find the website where I could listen to the song offline.
Downloading the song wasn't an option either because I was browsing the Internet on a dial-up.
Yes, there was no such thing as high-speed Internet back then.
In fact, Google's search engine algorithm wasn't as sophisticated as it is today.
Heck, even YouTube wasn't even acquired by Google yet.
It amazed me that I was patient enough to dig through the Internet's slush piles just to find the bands' songs.
Once I found them, I began to have a listen at it first and would decide if I like the band enough that I was willing to part my money to buy the CDs.
Out of many bands that I gave a listen, Pierrot and Plastic Tree were the only bands that made the cut. Other than that, I just didn't like them at all.
With no music shops around me that sold their CDs, then it was obvious that I had to buy them online.
And I've been buying from them since then.
Apart from CDJapan, I also have bought CDs from Tower Records Japan. But I wouldn't recommend you to buy from there because the website is in Japanese.
Back then, the CDs that I wanted to buy weren't available in CDJapan since CDJapan didn't sell CDs from the indie bands.
If you want to buy indie album, then you could only get it from Tower Records Japan.
If you're into indie bands, then no worries since the current CDJapan sells pretty much every indie band that you can think of.
I haven't been listening to the indie visual-kei bands for so long. So,I can't say for sure if they have the indie bands that you're looking for.
But there's no harm to go to CDJapan and start searching for it, right?
